Meet our team

The Luddingtons

Although WBOOSC has become a Limited Company we still see ourselves as the Luddington family business. The company directors are Helen and Ian Luddington. Ed and Milly both play senior roles in our organisation keeping the family ethos running.

Helen has always been a working mother of three children and before becoming involved with childcare had a completely different career. After setting up WBOOSC way back in 1995 Helen gained a Batchelor of Arts , then Masters degrees and became one of the first graduates with Early Years Professional Status to supplement her qualifications in childcare including , NVQ III Playworks (ages 5 to 1 5 years), NVQ III Childcare and Education (birth to 8 years), first aid and food hygiene. Helen has also attended a wide range of professional training courses in other childcare related areas. Helen is a qualified tutor for adult education and assessing and regularly teaches, trains and supports the team through their personal training and professional development which is encouraged for all staff at all levels.

Ian is a qualified teacher having a Bachelor of Science degree, he spends much of his time developing facilities using his skills gained from previous careers in surveying, building and teaching.

Ed – Having worked the summers for wboosc and the winters as a Ski instructor for many years, Ed joined us full time in 2017 and is Children’s Manager for our Studio.  Qualified to Level 3 childcare and Level 5 Leadership & Management, Ed handles all responsibilities for health & safety across all wboosc settings.  He is currently working towards his degree in Business Management.

Milly – Graduated from Newcastle University with an excellent honors degree in Music is bringing her talents to wboosc in teaching the children the arts side of the curriculum.  Currently working on her PGCE in Early Years, Milly works with the senior team to co-ordinate all our teaching both on and off-site.

Outside of work the Luddington family always try to enjoy a range of outdoor activities together.  We love to do as much as possible as a family.  Current favourites include; Skiing, Cycling, Swimming, Gardening, Walking, Music festivals, Camping, including wildcamping!  We have a passion for animals having a menage of many different types.



Our team

The children in our care come first at all times and always want our staff to show the same enthusiasm and dedication to the needs of the children in our care at all times. We employ full time qualified nursery nurses and playworkers with an excellent remuneration package who have a love of working with children. Training and development is always encouraged and we have a team of staff who have worked with us for a number of years, several in excess of 5 years.

We provide regular inhouse training sessions and childcare director, Helen takes an active part in overseeing planning, play and activities and discussing individual children’s developmental needs. We encourage all staff to undertake ongoing training both internally and externally and empower the team to achieve high levels of qualification. We operate a key worker system to always have the “first point of contact” who really knows your child.  These are all qualified (level 3 minimum) and experienced members of the team.

The majority of our team are level III qualified in either Playwork or Childcare and Education (or both). We expect our level II’s to work towards their higher qualification. We also encourage staff to work towards: Early Years Teaching Status. Early years Degree. Level IV managerial childcare qualification. Teaching and Assessing qualifications. First Aid. Basic Food Hygiene. Health and Safety. With a well qualified and committed team we believe we will always be striving to provide  an excellent level of care.  Our current team is made up of some extremely highly qualified staff including 5 with degrees, 3 with Masters, 2  Early Years Qualified Teachers and 3 qualified to Level 5 Leadership & Management, which can only benefit the children we work with.  CPD is encouraged throughout all our teams.
